From the lesson that was taught , i learnt more about Capital Punishment and evaluating information from sources to check if the website is credible / reliable or not by using AOQCC .
I learnt that the internet world isn't as simple as 123 or ABC . From some trustable sources might be fake too . For example : Wikipedia . At first , i thought that Wikipedia is a very reliable source of website but after the lesson , i understand that any one can edit the details / information so it might or might not be credible / reliable source anymore . During the lesson , we were showed some websites and were asked if any of them were fake / unreliable . The appearance of the website looks extremely nice and organised but looking deep into the details and crossing reference over to google and when we checked more about the details , the website 's information were seen to be a hoax . To con people in donating for non-meaningful purposes .
If the person who created a website is from a government or it was a government website then most likely , it is credible due to the aspects of A ( Author ) in AOQCC . If the author is associated in a reputable company or position then most likely the information given is real .
The Pros of the AOQCC is that , you will get the right , complete ,credible and reliable information . Differentiate which is a better website by comparing to another site .
The Cons of the AOQCC is that , you will need time to search for the details and compare with another source to see if it is a credible information and some people may find it troublesome .
To me , after learning that Capital Punishment is actually a death sentence , i was actually shocked because i was not known about it at all . At first , all i thought was Drug Trafficking only leads to prison for life and not known that it could be a death sentence . After the presentation of the Capital Punishment of the other groups , i also know more about the pros and cons for Capital Punishment . It is a very meaningful learning experience because it will alert us about the punishment we have to face if we do the things that will break the law in Singapore .
I would want to create my own website all about me . I hope we will learn that soon .
I've came to realise that Internet was and still has an extremely vast range of information available than I expected, with all sorts of information, even nonsenscial stuff(s).
Bringing me to the point that the AOQCC skill that was imparted to us would prove itself very useful. Enabling one to be able to determine whether the information he/she is looking at reliable or not.
Nonetheless, being reliable doesn't always means that the information would be 100% accurate, as afterall the web online was setup by one whom we might never get to know, as such it is always best to cross-reference with at least 2 reliable web sources to ensure better accuracy in the information.
Moreover, I would like to mention that I've learnt presentation would need much planning & practise inorder to ensure a smooth presentation, or else the presentation would be ending up making a fool out of one & I'll strive to do better in the next presentation.
Lastly, in the presentation that we did in our own groups on the view(s) of the Capital Punishment and elaborate on it base on what the group feels. Inevitably, each and everyone would have their own way of thinking, which led to many different answer. Rather than just one side of the answer based on just one person thinking. Instead I've learnt that it is better to compile all of the answer from my fellow group mates, listing both sides of the 'good' & 'bad' , afterwhich coming up with a conclusion would be ideal. In all, the lesson was fruitful. - Gerry.
Before the learning of AOQCC skills, I thought it was boring. To my astonishment, it was pretty interesting. From the commencement of school till now, I have already heard from all the lecturers about the reliability of information in internet. In the past, I always very dependent on it when doing research as I thought that the information given are safe and accurate. To my amazement, I just found out that there are fake websites created! I couldn’t stop laughing when I went into some ‘weird’ websites like Tree Octopus. It was ridiculous and nonsensical, and it really exists and which shocks me.
Through the learning journey this week, it is very useful to us. We probably not just learnt about how to identify some of the fake websites, we also know how to apply the tactics of using this skill so as to ensure us of the credibility of the information we wanted.
However, the AOQCC skills are quite useless at sometimes. Firstly, it is quite a waste of time by going through all the procedures to ensure the credibility of the sources. Some of the names of the author can be used by anyone; hence it is useless in some ways to identify the fake websites.
We not only just learn about the AOQCC skills, we have also learnt about some society issues we doesn’t know or encounter yet. For example, what is Capital Punishment? From this lesson, our classmates some some research on it and found out some interesting facts that we doesn’t know in the past and shared in the class during the presentation. Other groups like mine are researching on the Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide which I really learn a lot of things I haven’t been heard in the past.
Overall, this lesson taught me about the things which benefit me in the future when I need to do research for my projects or assignments and I have enjoyed it very much.
The lesson has taught me about Critical Evaluation this skill is useful to identify websites that are created as a prank or a hoax, this allows me to quickly identify if a website is a hoax either by Wikipedia or Google, the lesson has also showed me that we have to be able to work quick with power point presentation I have find out that both times I do not have the ability to finish a proper presentation.
For my views on Capital Punishment I find that sentencing someone who is innocent is a common thing that is happening everyday, so they should properly confirm that this person is actually innocent or not first, but there are also people who wont stop doing their crime even after being in jail for a very long time, so this people should be sentenced. However, there is also a case of overcrowding prison which allows the prisoners to overtake the prison.
So in today's lesson has taught me about several aspects in the web today there are people out there who create Hoax websites, Prank sites or Shock Sites for their entertainment purposes so having the ability AOQCC(Critical Evaluation) will allow me to quickly identify this websites and avoid going to them and will make most of my information pulled from the internet will mostly be true information as opposed to having fake information submitted for my report and having to redo. So today's lesson was a good experience.
I learnt that there are possibilities of unreliable websites on the net and I have to be careful about them when I am looking for information.
This lesson tells me that even the smallest things such as, format of the website page, could tell me whether the website is reliable or not. A well-organized website is more reliable as it shows that the creator had really put in effort for it and shows that the creator is a well-trained web designer.
I've learnt that I should never put payment methods on the front page of my website as it turn people off. I should not put animal picture in my website as well unless it is related to my website. All pictures that are placed in my website should be copyrighted or made by myself and I must seek approval from the owner of the picture before placing it in my website, this is part of copyright.
I've learnt that the first paragraph of my report should be the purpose of why I wrote this report.
I've learnt that the purpose of capital punishment is to reduce people in the prison and to show an example that this kind of crime is serious. I've learnt that a overloaded prison could cause serious problems such as prisoners trying to overrun the prison.
Upon studying AOQCC, I have realise that the internet have loads of fake website and hoax. With the skills of AOQCC, I now can further my understanding and expand my way of thinking to differentiate what's what and which is not what it looks like. Similar to what the teacher have said, I have studied HTML and flash before and I fully understand the lecture conveyed, which include the design, formating and the status of the website is truly important.
-Pros- AOQCC skills can teach you lots or critical thinking in order to gain reliable and useful information. This skill can also be used to differentiate things like hoax. "Never judge a book by its cover" is a famous phrase, hence this kind of skill is effective to properly investigate the sources before consifering it a reliable or true information.
-Cons- Unlike others, this skills only teaches us to be mindful about the way we think. But sometimes, there are still lots of people getting tricked. AOQCC alone will not help, studying web development like HTML,php or flash will help to achieve even more knowledge in studying fake/hoax website. Always depending on one skill is never enough and checking thoroughly always helps bring the best.
From this lesson, I learnt about how to identify some of the fake website and also evaluate information from source to check if the website is credible or not using AOQCC skills. I think the AOQCC skills that imparted to us are useful. It enables us to determine whether the information is reliable or not.
I get to learn how to evaluate the credibility of Information Source. It is by looking at Authority of the author, Objectivity of the author, Quality of the work, Coverage of the work and Currency of the research done.
For example: Wikipedia, I always think that it is a very reliable website. After the lesson, I get to know that anyone can edit the information in it. This resulted that it may not be 100% accurately.
During the lesson, we were asked to identify some of the fake website. I found out that there is a lot of fake website although it is well-presented with correct format. Most of the fake website is used to con people in donating.
Overall, this lesson helps to further my understanding on indentifying website which will benefit me when it comes to research for my project.
Firstly , i think this skill , AOQCC , that we learnt in the previous lesson is a life long skill that can be applied in any area in researching , be it in school or in the working force The PROS of AOQCC is that we can differentiate a genuine website from a fake website . Thus with appliance to this skill , u will be able to get 100% reliable information The CONS of AOQCC is that it takes loads of time cross referencing from one website to another , thus its very time consuming. My learning experience for this week was that i found out there are a vast number of people out there who are creating fake websites just to con innocent victims out of their money . When i and my group was preparing our powerpoint slides , there were a few different viewpoints from each group member but luckily we did not end up quarreling with each other, from this i learnt that , with good relationship with your group members , u will finish your work more efficiently , thus good team work is a necessity if u want to ensure you do things right Thus from this , i can conclude that this lesson was a fruitful one as i learnt many things about capital punishments and also whenever there is research work being done , i would use the AOQCC method whenever possible
What I learnt from the lesson we had this friday was to be able to identify whether a website is fake(some website are scam) or reliable using AOQCC method as well as learning what is Capital Punishment and the advantages(pros)and disadvantages(cons) of it.
I learnt a lot from the lesson such as believing whether the informations on a website is reliable or not. From this lesson, I also learnt how to make a reliable website by considering the design and informations and it will help me make a better website as I owned a web domain. I also learnt that website with .gov are reliable because it is owned by the government and .sg are mostly reliable because you need to submit documents before you can buy a wesbite.
The pros of AOQCC is that you will be able to identify whether to trust the website informations or not by considering the status and reviews of the website, the picture that it uses(as some website used pictures that are copyrighted) and whether it has visa or mastercard logos(some website that have the logos are reliable as they are non-profit organizations that let the users make donations). A person will not get scam so easily if they apply AOQCC method.
The cons of AOQCC is that most modern website are not easily identified as unreliable or scam because nowadays it is easy to make a website using user-friendly application such as iweb and people won't notice whether a website is fake or not. Modern website that are scam and unreliable nowadays uses flash, uses a self-made pictures, have reliable information and some people paid someone to write good review about the scam website. AOQCC alone does not help a person not to get scammed and tricked. A person must also learn about the source code of the website. This does not mean that AOQCC is rubbish but a new technique must be made to identify a modern website. Some person also find it too troublesome to use AOQCC.
I think AOQCC is a good method to avoid scam and extracting a reliable information from a website. I will not say that AOQCC is the best but it is still acceptable. A new technique must be devised with the advanced in technology.
Overall, I learnt a lot of things about AOQCC and also Capital Punishment. At first, I found the topic for this friday is boring but as I read through the slides again, it is quite interesting. Even though this topic is not important now but I'm sure it will be useful in the future especially when doing assignment and work. :D
From this CIS lesson, i have learnt alot of things from my fellow classmates and the teacher.before this lesson, i know that there are some websites which provide fake informations, but i do not know how to differentiate it from the real and the fake one.but after this lesson, i learnt how to differentiate.thanks to all of you.i was quite shocked that even wikipedia, there will be fake informations also.all along i thought that wikipedia is the most trustable website till today.i learnt that people can actually edit information through the web, to give u the wrong info.it is very important to check whether the website is reliable before using the website information for referrences.thus, it is very important to use the skills from AOQCC.AOQCC helps us determine whether the source is reliable anot.
My group did the presentation for the capital punishment.everyone of us could'nt come up with a decision whether we are against or not against it, because different people have different views.i am glad that i can hear many people stating different views in the class.i didn't know that drug trafficking is such a serious offence till i attended this CIS lesson.this let me to understand that the law in singapore is very strict.
i learnt from the other groups about the Euthanasia and Assisted suicide.i didnt know that people can end thier live through another person's aknowledgement.but luckily, in singapore, Euthanasia and assisted suicide are illegal.i was so relived.
overall, this lesson is very interesting.i make me more knowledgeable.
From this lesson, i learn to differentiate Real websites and fake websites. I also learn Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide and Singapore vs. Amnesty International on Capital Punishment.
Firstly, i learn to use AOQCC to see whether that information is trusted or not trusted. A stands for Authority, asking who is the Author/ Publisher, is it trusted? O stands for the objective of the author. What the Author wants to say. Q stands for Quality of the Author's work. Is his English good? C stands for the Coverage of the Author's work. Is the information useful? And lastly another C stands for Currency. Is the information updated?
I also learn on what is Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide. I learn that it is illegal in Singapore. I also learn the difference between Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide is, Euthanasia is use for people who are unconscious, and you just end their life without that someone knowing. Assisted suicide is someone who is concious say he want to end his own suffering and let him die.
Singapore vs. Amnesty International on Capital Punishment. I think that Singapore law has been very good. I dont think that having drugs can be executed is too overboard. Singapore is a small country we must not start any drugs trafficking. Therefore i think Death penalty for having Drugs is acceptable.
Learn how to observe the real or fake website on internet. It's quite interesting about those web design on website. As I learn before, using dreamweaver program to design a webpage. It is not simple to complete a well-design webpage. But it is fun to play around with the html codes. =D
For the group work, my group present about Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide. I agree about assisted suicide because the peoples are suffering from a very serious illness/diseases. It is pain to see them suffering and become more n more weak. I think that they doesn't want die with ugly looks. rather die with a willing look or peaceful look.
From the two CIS lessons, I have learnt and understand the purpose of AOQCC. It is a skill that helps us differentiate between true website and some false or even duplicate websites by looking at details like the author of the website or even the format of the page. The purpose of knowing whether the website is reliable is important, as we would not want to mislead our self or others with inaccurate information.
Next, after hearing from my classmates’ presentation on capital punishment, in other word the death penalty, I have understood more about it. It is the sentence of death upon a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offence, and it is legal in Singapore’s law. I find that it is good that Singapore have implemented this law, so as to punish those who have committed in serious crimes. And I do agree that those who smuggled drugs into Singapore should be punished, as they not only harm themselves but might harm or even kill others who take overdose of drug.
Finally I also learnt more about euthanasia and assisted suicide, which my group had presented to the class on. Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in a manner which relieves pain and suffering, whereby assisted suicide is in which an individual helps another person voluntarily bring about their own death. Hence I find that both are similar as they both put a life to sleep, which in another word relieves their suffering. However, this would not be carried out in Singapore as it is illegal, it is considered as an act of murder to perform any of the two mentioned practice.
In my point of view, I agree that euthanasia can be carried out only when given the consent of the patient, for example a living will made by the patient before he/she cannot make a decision consciously. However I will not agree that euthanasia should be carried out if the patient for instant has been in coma and which decision have to be made by their family. As I think it would be unfair to them if they still have a will to carry on their life or even where there might be miracles happening. Hence decision in carrying out euthanasia should be based on the different circumstances given.
Looks can be deceiving, it turns out that even a professionally designed website can a fraud/phishing website. Checking the creditability and accuracy of the website allows the information we get is correct but sometimes even though the information is correct, it may be out-dated or wrong as the author is human after all. The most important about AOQCC was critical thinking without thinking critically, we could be reading and accepting the information given out to us mindlessly. Different people have different views, even though capital punishment may serve as a deterrent but I still believe 人 之 初 性 本 善(People at birth, are naturally good), so the criminal who committed felony should be given a second chance.
I get to listen on different view on euthanasia and assisted suicide on today’ presentation, and I think the best way to avoid getting into this kind of situation is to maintain good diet and exercising habits.
After the presentation, I found that I having a hard time to express myself but I can express myself easily in text form languages. This experience serves as a measuring stick to remind me where my current standard is so I can improve further.
When I was first taught AOQCC, I was thinking: What is this thing? I expected it to be a very bored lectures but it turned out otherwise!
With AOQCC, it allows me to differentiate which website is actually true or fake. So that when I am finding information for my projects, I won't get simply grab the information and close the website. The lesson also allow me to have a chance to group with my classmates for project so as to bond with them.
I learn about a few things this lesson, Capital Punishment, Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide. I learn that Capital Punishment is the sentence of death upon a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offense. I feel that Capital Punishment because we can stop these people from committing more crimes and harming more people.
I've learn that by performing Euthanasia on a person is actually a murder. I didn't know about it until Mr Andrew talked about it today. I agree to Euthanasia if it's applied to someone whose really sick, because I really don't like to see people suffer.
Assisted Suicide is definitely a NO to me. It is because no one should have the feeling of giving up on life.
I learnt about the differences between euthanasia and assisted suicide. It is illegal in Singapore. And I feel that life is precious and we should not end people's life even if we hate to see them suffer.
And capital punishment,i learnt that it is a death penalty given upon a person by the judge as a punishment example drug trafficking.
There are many things I’ve learnt for last week’s lesson. Firstly, I was not really aware of the fake websites, well I was but I don’t really know how to tell apart a website whether it’s real or not. But for this lesson finally know how to identify a fake website and a real website through AOQCC.
When I was asked if the website is real or not during the lesson, I thought it was real, but it’s actually fake. So I've got so much to learn about websites. It's like I've been using the internet for almost 6-7years and yet I don't really know how to tell apart a real one from a fake website. So now that I came to Polytechnic and we have to do project and researches to do, I should start practicing AOQCC.
There are many advantages of AOQCC, one of it is that you can obtain reliable information and you know for yourself it’s real. You can trust it and share it to others. You don't have to worry about losing your money (in Blog shops and other websites which acquires money). And you will be able to do your research and projects properly. The disadvantages are that you will need to look for information to compare and judge for yourself whether it's real or not. This might take a lot of time as you will have to cross refer check everything and read everything in the source. It is time consuming. But in the end, we want more reliable information rather than having fast information but are wrong.
Capital Punishment There are always two sides to this, If you did something awfully wrong you deserved to be punished. Capital Punishment also helps in preventing anyone to commit any crime. It is like to "scare" them or some sort. Like in Singapore, Capital Punishment is allowed and the crimes are lesser compared to other countries, where crime is rampant. We have no right to kill people, but sometimes Capital Punishments/Death Penalty should be done. Like what was shared today, in some countries drugs are really very common because they don't impose death penalty and in a way, the citizens or people are not "scared" to do crimes because they think they only go to jail for 5years and on and come out and be free again. The Other Side of the story, there is always a reason why people commit crime. If we are put in their shoes they might be doing it because of money? (For dealing with drugs/robbery) because they needed to feed their families. Or maybe there are suffering for depression or just not in the right state of mind. For obtaining money it is not an excuse, there are other means or ways to obtain money to feed your money, if you resort to crimes it means you are just desperate and losing hope to do the other ways.
In my point of view, it should be allowed, to tell people that committing crime is unforgivable and those who do it will be severely punished! I mean if they know it’s wrong why would they do it at the first place?
In week 3 , i learnt ways on how to determine whether a website is a hoax or a real one it includes authorship , objectivity , quality , coverage and currency. In short , they stand for AOQCC.we also learnt that many of these hoax websites' main aim is to cheat people of their money through internet banking. i have also learnt that there are millions of such websites in the world wide web and we should always stay cautious and not donate money to such websites.
we also researched on capital punishment and made a presentation about it.We were told to present about our thoughts. it was an enriching experience
From the lesson that was taught , i learnt more about Capital Punishment and evaluating information from sources to check if the website is credible / reliable or not by using AOQCC .

When i and my group was preparing our powerpoint slides , there were a few different viewpoints from each group member but luckily we did not end up quarreling with each other, from this i learnt that , with good relationship with your group members , u will finish your work more efficiently , thus good team work is a necessity if u want to ensure you do things right
Thus from this , i can conclude that this lesson was a fruitful one as i learnt many things about capital punishments and also whenever there is research work being done , i would use the AOQCC method whenever possible
What I learnt from the lesson we had this friday was to be able to identify whether a website is fake(some website are scam) or reliable using AOQCC method as well as learning what is Capital Punishment and the advantages(pros)and disadvantages(cons) of it.
ReplyDeleteI learnt a lot from the lesson such as believing whether the informations on a website is reliable or not.

ReplyDeleteMy group did the presentation for the capital punishment.everyone of us could'nt come up with a decision whether we are against or not against it, because different people have different views.i am glad that i can hear many people stating different views in the class.i didn't know that drug trafficking is such a serious offence till i attended this CIS lesson.this let me to understand that the law in singapore is very strict.
i learnt from the other groups about the Euthanasia and Assisted suicide.i didnt know that people can end thier live through another person's aknowledgement.but luckily, in singapore, Euthanasia and assisted suicide are illegal.i was so relived.
overall, this lesson is very interesting.i make me more knowledgeable.
From this lesson, i learn to differentiate Real websites and fake websites. I also learn Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide and Singapore vs. Amnesty International on Capital Punishment.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, i learn to use AOQCC to see whether that information is trusted or not trusted.

-Week 3 lesson-
ReplyDeleteLearn how to observe the real or fake website on internet.
ReplyDeleteNext, after hearing from my classmates’ presentation on capital punishment, in other word the death penalty, I have understood more about it.
ReplyDeleteDifferent people have different views, even though capital punishment may serve as a deterrent but I still believe 人 之 初 性 本 善(People at birth, are naturally good), so the criminal who committed felony should be given a second chance.
ReplyDeleteWith AOQCC, it allows me to differentiate which website is actually true or fake.
ReplyDeleteAnd capital punishment,i learnt that it is a death penalty given upon a person by the judge as a punishment example drug trafficking.
There are many things I’ve learnt for last week’s lesson. Firstly, I was not really aware of the fake websites, well I was but I don’t really know how to tell apart a website whether it’s real or not. But for this lesson finally know how to identify a fake website and a real website through AOQCC.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was asked if the website is real or not during the lesson, I thought it was real, but it’s actually fake.
Capital Punishment
There are always two sides to this, If you did something awfully wrong you deserved to be punished.

ReplyDeleteIn week 3 , i learnt ways on how to determine whether a website is a hoax or a real one
ReplyDeleteit includes authorship , objectivity , quality , coverage and currency.
